Held every August since 1935, The Old Fiddlers Convention attracts about 50,000 fiddle enthusiasts of every ilk, who come to see some 2,000 musicians compete in categories like old time fiddle, dobro, mandolin, autoharp, dulcimer, bluegrass banjo and many others. If you decide to stay at a Galax B&B or Galax inn early in February to beat the Valentine's Day rush, you'll be able to attend the annual two- day Chocolate Lovers Festival. It is held the first full weekend in February. The Sherando Lake is a recreation area in George Washington National Forest with swimming, picnicking, and camping. The Parrott Bay Restaurant is a great place to eat and drink and hang out with friends and family.
