In 1909 the Robert Frost family rented a tent-site on the lake next to what is now the Robert Frost Cottage. As a result of their stay, Frost became inspired by Mrs. Conley and wrote his famous poem “A Servant to Servants” in 1914. The original farmhouse was eventually demolished and new structures were built and rebuilt over time.
