Paymaster's Office
This amazing private cottage, with its floor to ceiling brick gas fireplace, oversize whirlpool bath and king-size bed, includes a beautiful view of the creek and our property. It is a wonderful and serene way to unwind.
The Paymaster helps you to find the peace of nature and absorb the historical settings offered at Speedwell Forge. It’s possible you may never want to leave.

This private two-story cottage has a lovely cast iron queen bed and in-room whirlpool tub upstairs, and a living room and kitchenette downstairs. Features a gas fireplace and streaming roku tv.

Policies & Miscellaneous Information
By making a reservation, you are agreeing with our policies:
Check-In & Check-Out
- Check-in: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. or by prior arrangement
- Check-out: 11 a.m.
- Please, if you are going to be later than 6pm, call me. We do not have a front desk and while you can set up a self check-in we would prefer that you arrive while it is still light out.
Deposits
Deposits: A deposit of 50% of your stay will be charged to your credit card at the time your reservation is made. Deposits can only be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover or debit cards. Your balance is due three days prior to arrival.
Breakfast
- If you have food Allergies, restrictions and other needs, please let us know. We are happy to take care of your dietary restrictions, or food lifestyles such as vegan or vegetarian or have other special requirements. (A good example would be on medication that precludes grapefruit)
Cancellation Policy
- When a guest makes a reservation for a stay at Speedwell Forge B&B we agree to turn away all other requests for the room you select and you agree to pay the rate quoted for the number of days you reserve it. A small bed and breakfast such as ours is significantly affected by cancellations and we appreciate your consideration of our policies.
- We adhere to a strict cancellation policy.
- Cancellations made prior to the 10 day arrival deadline will be refunded their deposit less a $35 non refundable cancellation fee. Cancellations made within 10 days or your arrival date will lose their deposit. Cancellations made two days or less will be charged the full amount of the reservation unless we are able to re-rent the room. This includes “No-shows” and premature check-outs. Vacation Insurance is available from several providers online to inexpensively protect you against unexpected events. We will make every effort to re-sell the room so that you may receive a refund. Note: Longer cancellation periods will be applied to multi-room bookings. Please call for information. Cancellations must be made directly by calling and speaking to an innkeeper or by e-mail with a confirmed response.
Smoking
- Smoking is not permitted inside any of the buildings
- A cleaning fee of $500 will be assessed for any violations
Children
- No children, No toddlers, No babies or infants, No exceptions. All guests of the bed and breakfast must be 18 years of age or older.
Pets
- Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets
Other
- All rates based on double occupancy
- Maximum occupancy in all rooms is 2, no exceptions
- $35 fee for returned checks
- We are not handicap-accessible (All rooms require stairs except the Paymaster's Office, which has one step)
