Lenox is a town in Berkshire County in the western part of Massachusetts. It is famous because of Tanglewood Music Center, which is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. June through September concerts are held almost on a daily basis there. If you book a room in a Lenox B&B or Lenox inn for a concert, also check out Shakespeare and Company, which provides performances of Shakespearean works, as well as other plays from May to November. Another place to visit is the Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum, which celebrates railroading in the Berkshires. You can also take in Frelinghuysen Morris House and Studio, which offers guided tours of the American cubist's home and art collection on the 46-acre estate next to Tanglewood. If you are exhausted from your touring, be sure to spend a restful evening at a Lenox bed and breakfast. But before you do, get some dinner. The Lenox 218 Restaurant is known for its Northern Italian and American cuisine, and features pasta, seafood, steak, and poultry dishes. Lantyre is a fine dining restaurant in Lennox that offers French cuisine, including braised halibut with rock shrimp, roasted rack of lamb with sheep's cheese and tenderloin of beef with Stilton leek ravioli. You should know that gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie there.
