A simple and deliciously sweet chocolate treat.
In a heavy saucepan you will combine the butter, sugar, water, and salt.
Cook these ingredients to a hard-crack stage (300 degrees) stirring constantly.
Immediately pour the mixture into an ungreased 13"x9" pan.
Cook until hard.
Melt chocolate in a double boiler (place chocolate in a pan or in a glass bowl which rests over a pot of simmering water).
Spread the melted chocolate over the toffee and sprinkle with the chopped pecans pressing them into the chocolate.
Let stand for 2-3 hours or chill for 30 minutes.
Break into bite-size pieces.
