WOOF! A Blog from Jack the Golden Retriever 12 May 2022, 11:34 am

A Golden Retriever dog sits on a shelf with a green collar on looking happy

Summer is approaching quickly! For you, that means fishing, swimming, hiking,
and sunsets from the riverwalk! For me, it means a good shave and a
lot of dips in the Paluxy River.

HI! My name is Jack and I am a Golden Retriever. I only come to visit on occasion,
but like you, I love my time at Country Woods Inn! On my last visit, I enjoyed
meeting so many new friends and families! The fields here are magnificent and
filled with flowers that can be picked and arranged for guests to enjoy
in their cabins and Airstreams.

A group of young kids stand in a line along a walking trail in the woods in shorts with walking sticks

I am so grateful that Country Woods Inn is a pet-friendly Bed & Breakfast!
This makes it very comfortable for me! During our family reunion, my owner
and his family used the Chapel in the Woods for gatherings before and after
the various activities scheduled throughout the day. Although the river
was my favorite spot on the property, the walking trails to the Chapel
were absolutely beautiful!

Large grey boulders sit along a riverbed at Big Rocks Park in the Paluxy River

It looks like we’ll be back to visit again this summer! I am hopeful to
extend our stay so we can enjoy the campfire and the Breakfast Barn again!
I have big plans to hang out with Bradley, the Donkey. If you make it there
before I do, enjoy the baby bunnies which can be held anytime
during your visit!

Happy Summer!
Jack

HOP-HOP! A Blog from Sunshine Ruby 29 Mar 2022, 12:37 pm

Baby silver bunny sits in a metal pot with red flowers and greenery

I sure do love spring, green grass, and kids! My name is
Sunshine Ruby, and I am ONE happy rabbit! You’ll find me in
the wagon near the barnyard! Just last night, I got to enjoy
watching our guests in the Carriage House count the bright stars
in the sky, roast marshmallows over a warm fire, and catch a firefly
or two (that was quite entertaining)! Here in about three weeks,
I’ll get to hop on over to the big bunny pen where the grown-up
bunnies and ducks are. From there, I get to see the deer in the
meadow graze every evening. The fainting goats are also so
much fun to observe!

Silouhuettes of 3 kids squatting and standing by a river with the sun shining off of it

Although my siblings and I are very quiet, we probably enjoy
our guests the most! Easter is right around the corner,
and oh-my-my how we bring BIG SMILES to many faces! Springtime
means a lot at Country Woods Inn. From throwing a fishing pole
into the Paluxy, collecting fossils on an adventurous trail walk,
to a beautiful stroll to our downtown shopping and dining area!
All of this ON foot! This time of year is always perfect for
making memories with friends and family!

A field of bluebonnets in front of a small mountain with blue sky

On your next visit, please stop by and say hello to our family
here at CWI! Don’t forget about our bluebonnet field in late spring.
Our Chapel in the Woods holds the best view of the bluebonnets!
Especially during weddings, family reunions, and church retreats!
Again, I hope to see you strolling, walking, or hopping alongside
me very soon! Happy SPRINGTIME!

QUACK! Our very own Mother Goose! 2 Mar 2022, 11:13 am

A white goose lays in a bed of hay with a baby yellow duck on it's back

My name is “Christopher” and I am honored to be the one to welcome you to
COUNTRY WOODS INN!
I have lived on this farm and loved my slice of heaven for 21 years now.
Through this time, I have acquainted myself with so many animals,
families, brides, couples, and my favorite of all… children!

A black and white mother rabbit sits in hay looking at her 6 baby bunnies

The exchange is delightful – children love to offer me food, and I in return,
deliver smiles and laughter! Oh, and photos of course! Although I live
joyfully in my pen, I remain grateful for the rabbits and ducks who wander
throughout the beautiful riverside property and report back to me!
They share great stories of children catching fireflies, families hiking on
our trails through the woods, and large groups enjoying a
crisp campfire after sunset.

A collage of pictures showing a man in white chef coat cooking pancakes, flowers on a wagon table with jars of granola and nuts, and a sign saying Enjoy the Farm with a blue ribbon hanging on it

The Breakfast Barn is another favorite of mine! I smell the pancakes on
Sunday mornings and wait for kiddos to toss over an egg or granola
morsel every now and then for me to enjoy! YUM!

A brown and white mother duck sits with her 6 yellow and black baby ducklings behind her

Now that I am older in years, I do spend months in the spring and summer
protecting our young mother ducks after their first round of ducklings
have hatched. You’ll find me no more than three feet away as I
spread my wings and help them discover fence holes once it’s time
for my little feather friends to explore.

A silhouette of a young girl swinging as the sun goes down in front of her

I love my life at Country Woods Inn! If you choose to come and visit,
please stop by my pen and say hello! I would love to be the first to
welcome you to our magical home where laughter is always contagious!

Spread your wings and fly!
Christopher the Goose

From a Horse’s Point of View…
A Blog from Tomcat

A brown horse with white face stands in a field

Howdy!… And welcome to the farm! My name is “Tomcat” and I take much
pride in being in charge here at Country Woods Inn on the Paluxy River.
I have been here for quite some time now, and adore my sidekick,
Bradley, the donkey. He gets very loud when our friendly guests
offer apples and carrots to munch on!

A young girl with blonde hair hugs a donkey's neck in front of a red barn

Spring Break is my favorite time of the year. Colorful flowers cover
our field and luscious green grass makes for a happy meal for me!
Following March, the bluebonnets cover the field like a sea of blue.
During this time, many guests and children love to walk on the
trails by the chapel and through the woods. I do apologize on the
upfront if Bradley and I have left our stinky mark on the trails…
I just love our 40-acre restroom! Another favorite experience
of mine is taking pictures! You’ll find that I never blink on a click, and
when I hear the word “smile” I assume that means to
perk my ears… which I do!

A brown horse with white face sticks its head through a barn door to eat a carrot from a young girl's hand

The Breakfast Barn is another special spot. Although I would prefer
it to be just for me, I have found great benefits in being a good sharer!
We serve a full breakfast on weekends beginning in March and ending
when I get my fur coat, which is right after Thanksgiving.

A white goose lays in a bed of hay with a baby yellow duck on it's back

Sometimes, you will find Bradley and me peeking our heads
through the barn door and enjoying breakfast with you!
Joining us, you will see many bunnies, ducks, and my very
special friend, Christopher the goose. She’s in the pen right next to the
barn keeping an eye out on her best friend, Ollie, the pig.

A black and white pot belly pig stands nose to nose with a black and white rabbit in a barnyard

Well, it’s time for me to graze, so I leave you with some
good advice from a horse to a human…
Spend as much time as you can outside enjoying long walks,
sunsets, starry skies, fireflies, and the sounds of music
that I call “nature”. Hope to see you soon with an apple and a camera!

I love carrots too!
