Carolina Bed & Breakfast
The Miss Webb Room
During the 1930s, the Carolina Bed & Breakfast was a boarding house owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. George Webb. Their son, David, began his career as a jewelry designer in the cottage on the property and went on to great success and acclaim in New York City. The Miss Webb Room is named in honor of the family.
Originally the library, this first-floor guest room features a charming built-in bookcase, which serves as a backdrop to the cherry wood, pencil post, queen-size bed. An original quilt made by a local artisan adds to the picture and is beautiful in its graceful simplicity. Two comfortable chairs flank a small oak secretary desk to form a separate sitting area for your enjoyment. A three-drawer oak dresser and small armoire complete the transformation from library to bedroom. The navy and yellow themed bedroom has a full, private bath.
The Goldfinch Room
Light amber walls and a rich gold paisley bedspread complement this lovely second floor guest room complete with queen size bed, a working fireplace, and cable TV. The full private bath boasts a large two person whirlpool tub with a separate tiled shower. Candles abound for a romantic setting.

The Hummingbird Room
Named for the framed section of the original wallpaper over the fireplace, the Hummingbird Room harkens back to the past with a four-poster, mahogany rice bed, oriental carpet, and original claw-foot tub and shower in the private bath. You will feel like royalty as you mount the steps to your pillow bedecked bed, while the heart-pine floors glow in the light from the original fireplace. The largest of our guest rooms, the Hummingbird Room is richly furnished with antiques and overlooks our quaint cottage and beautiful gardens in the rear of the house. It contains plenty of modern comforts as well: flat-screen cable TV, wireless Internet, air conditioning, and a ceiling fan are all included. Everything you need to relax and enjoy the pleasures of this spacious home is at your fingertips. A third person can be accommodated in this room on a roll-away cot for an additional charge of $35.
The Robin's Nest Room
Tucked away by itself in a quiet corner of the second floor, the Robin's Nest is our most private room. In the rear of the house, it overlooks the gardens on two sides. In the spring, the grape arbor and wisteria form a riot of color under your window. In the autumn, the vista looks out to the brilliant fall colors of the tree-covered mountains behind the house. Paying homage to the owners' years in Asia, the Robin's Nest has a king-size, rosewood opium bed flanked by two Chinese lacquered bedside tables. The antique dresser in the corner is flanked by a comfortable armchair. Linking the past and the present, the blue and white color theme is based on the 18th century popularity of Chinese export porcelain in Europe and the United States. A small dressing room leads to a private bath with walk-in shower and a pedestal sink. The Robin's Nest was refinished in January 2011. The floors have been refinished to the original heart pine and a Chinese oriental rug now graces the floor.
With its king-size bed, private bath with a two-person whirlpool tub and shower, and faux fireplace, this room is ideal for romance. The small kitchenette has a refrigerator stocked with sodas and bottled water. It includes a microwave and hot plate as well as coffee-making facilities. Relax on the back porch under the canopy of our grape arbor. In the evening, you may want to stroll down to the center of Asheville to enjoy the music and dining for which Asheville is so justly famous. In the morning, you can join us in the dining room for a gourmet breakfast or, if you choose, we can arrange to bring breakfast to your room. Add on a romance package or talk with our spa coordinator to make your stay even more special.
This Asheville cottage also contains a comfortable daybed, making it perfect for a group of three desiring a little more room.
The Cardinal Room
Rich red walls and a plush green Oriental carpet offset a beautiful mahogany four-poster, Chippendale-style, queen-size bed in this sunlit, second floor room. A green and white "Star" quilt and soft, plump pillows complete the picture. Against one wall, the mirror of a large antique oak dresser reflects the flickering light of the original coal fireplace, which has been retro-fitted with gas logs for your convenience. A deep, jewel-tone green wing chair invites you to rest. The private bathroom is roomy with a single whirlpool bath and shower unit. An individually-controlled heating unit keeps the bathroom just as warm as you would like it. Just outside the door of your room sits a cherry-wood Chippendale dresser in the Federalist style, one of the many family pieces that the owners showcase in the Carolina Bed & Breakfast. The style is gracious and comfortable, not fussy and fragile, and the spacious room allows you to spread out and enjoy your stay.
The Mockingbird Room
Hand-stenciled cream and plum walls echo the colors of the deep-pile Oriental carpet underfoot in this unpretentious room. The four-poster queen bed is flanked by two green-shaded Chinese ginger jar lamps and an original artwork, "The Whirling Dervish", graces the wall. The original coal fireplace has been retro-fitted with gas logs, which leap into flame at the touch of a button. With a modern remote, you can control this from anywhere in the room. Sunlight fills the room in the afternoon and the muted sounds of people walking their dogs and taking children to the park will make you feel that you have returned to an earlier era. The spacious, full, private bath was the original bathroom of the house, but it has been fully renovated to the highest level of modern convenience with a two-person whirlpool bath and a separate tile shower. The Mockingbird Room is a blend of past and present with the best of both.
