  • A classic Cape Cod inn with the spirit of a small luxury hotel...

    LAMB AND LION INN

Nestled on 4 acres of Cape Cod's unspoiled historic district, guests at the Lamb and Lion enjoy lots of privacy with spacious suites, all with private baths, and separate guest entrances and exits (no curfews, and no tip-toeing around someone's living room!). The Inn is located about 1 mile from beautiful Barnstable Harbor (and the whale watch boat!) and just a few short minutes from all the best beaches, shopping and restaurants that Cape Cod has to offer. Here you have the very best of both worlds...the peaceful setting of "Old Cape Cod", yet you're less than 10 minutes from the nightlife and shops of colorful Main Street, Hyannis!

    LAMB AND LION INN

The diversity of accommodations is one of the many perks that the Lamb and Lion has to offer...Ultra-clean suites with wood-burning fireplaces, cozy rooms with gas fireplace stoves, and some with full kitchens. Some suites can accommodate a family or a small group of friends. All of the rooms are just a few steps away from the central courtyard which features a heated pool and giant year-round hot tub spa, and all the rooms feature top-of-the-line bedding, private in-room baths, cable TV, wireless internet, A/C, sitting areas and telephones. Extras include free self-guided driving tours, discount whale watch tickets tons of maps, menus and dining recommendations, and a full-service spa and yoga studio. Inn guests may also bring their well-behaved pets , with restrictions.

We always keep this in mind...We are fortunate to live on Cape Cod year round, but we realize that for YOU this stay might be something you've been wanting, or needing, for a long time. This might be your one and only getaway this year. No matter what the situation, we will do everything we can to make sure that you make the most of your stay on beautiful Cape Cod.

  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Tom Dott for sharing his own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

We are NOT your typical ma and pa bed and breakfast. Guests can socialize and mingle OR be as private an anonymous as they like! Our breakfast is "when you want, where you want" and the inn has seperate guest entrances so you never feel like your tip toing around someone's house.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

Guest privacy, a pool, pet friendly, a spa. We are also lifelong hospitality pro's and have being doing this longer (and better) than most.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

We can't name just 1. The history is amazing, the natural beauty is some of the prettiest in the World--and then you have whale watching! We are close to just about everything the Cape has to offer.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

We have 2 that instantly come to mind. "I have traveled the world for business and pleasure and have stayed at some of the best hotels out there--this is the cleanest property I have ever enjoyed." That was nice. This next one was a personal favorite strictly as a huge Beatles fan, and in particular a fan of George Harrison: "The image of the LAMB tucked into the LION stands for peacefulness. It was one of The Beatles' and George's greatest messages, and really what this inn is all about." That was what George's sister Louise said to a few thousand people during a charity concert.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The arts! Amazing theatrical productions, and lots of them. Cape Cod is one of the most popular places in America for live theater.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

Take our free "self-guided driving tours" up and down the coast. Our guests love this. We call them "insider's scavenger hunts" where we point out the most tucked away beaches, off the beaten path hiking trails, the best place to grab a lobster roll and the funkiest shops and galleries! Whale watching is also a must and is just down the road--and of course a day at the beach, or poolside.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

The beach is a 15 minute walk. Barnstable Village is a very pretty 25 minute walk. Whale watching isn't much further. There are miles of beautiful hiking trails on both sides of our property.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

Your innkeeper happens to have won several national food writing awards and is the Senior Contributing Editor of Edible Cape cod Magazine--so our guests are covered in the food department! We love FIN, The Ocean House, the Barnstable Tavern just down the road has a great patio on Main Street. The Black Cat Tavern and Sesuit Harbor Cafe for all tings fried and fattening.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

    enteringcapecod.com, www.capecodtravelguide.com, www.capecod.com

How many rooms does your inn have?

We have 10, including a converted horse stable and 1740 Barn. All have private baths and most with either a kitchenette and/or a fireplace.

    Do you accept pets?

Yes! We were recently named "One of the top 6 pet friendly properties in the world" by CNN

  • What else do you need to know??

A bit about breakfast, and other unique features!

All room rates include our very unique Gourmet Continental Breakfast which can feature anything from Ali's "famous" granola (once featured in Bon Appetit Magazine), slow-roasted fruit, "Monkey Bread", and "Gooey Caramel-Orange Ring". Breakfast is served in the same laid back fashion as the Inn is run. You can have your breakfast any time you like, and you can enjoy it anywhere you like--in the Breakfast Sunroom, on the back decks poolside...or back in your suite! After you fill up on breakfast take a short walk to our local beach, hike a trail in the beautiful conservation land right across from the Inn, or just veg-out poolside with a good book. There is also an "add on" ala carte menu in the warmer months if you want to "super size" your breakfast!

    Lamb's Retreat Guest Room,

Another perk includes the two Innkeeper's extensive hospitality backgrounds. Ali and Tommy previously owned a 4-Diamond AAA property which was part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux organization. The goal is to consistently surpass your already high expectations. How? You name it! The Lamb and Lion guest services book, located in every room, lists and describes over five pages of the best, nearby restaurants (from the "shackiest" of clam shacks to the very finest in fine dining), directions to the closest beaches (one within walking distance!), the best Cape Cod museums, the nicest hiking, biking, shopping and golfing.

The Innkeepers have also created custom "self guided driving tours" from every direction, so you won't miss a thing. The tours are FREE and point out every interesting and cool secret along the way!

What else do you need? Want to surprise your honey with a massage? The Lamb and Lion wellness studio features Elena, a lovely and talented certified massage therapist who also offers private yoga classes. Wine? Cheese? Same deal. We will find you the "good stuff", and for less money! Want to surprise him/her with chocolate covered strawberries? Made in-house with only the finest chocolate.
