Plovdiv is located in central Bulgaria. International prestige is credited to a number of Bulgarian music festivals, one of which is the Plovdiv Verdi Festival. It has become a favorite summertime tradition. The Verdi Festival is held annually at the ancient Philippopolis Roman Amphitheatre at the edge of historic Old Town Plovdiv. The 110-year-old Plovdiv Fair is a modern center for information and contacts. The trade fair and exhibition events outline the performance of Bulgarian economy, as well as the interest of the international business in our country and region. The nearby Roman Amphitheater, discovered in the 1970's during a construction project, is part of the pedestrian zone, and typically has merchants selling art and other items nearby. Wander the cobblestone streets near the downtown to find the centuries old St. Marina church with a unique wooden tower, a mosque from the Ottoman Empire, and on the nearby hill the old town center. Twin Peaks, located near the railroad station the restaurant has an outdoor and indoor hall. The atmosphere is folk style. Decorated with artifacts from Bulgarian life and stuffed animals. There is a live monkey and some parrots in the entourage. Knyaz Battenberg, the place is clean, the service fast. It is always crowded with locals. Everything from milk, salads and cheeses to fully cooked foods - meats and veggies.
