  • FRONT PORCH

    FRONT PORCH

Enjoy the Victorian period large sprawling front porch with view to Highland Ave South, the fashionable executive residential neighborhood laid out by Frederic Law Olmstead, the famous landscape architect of Central Park in New York City.  Notice the horse tie-up iron post out front.  Close your eyes and imagine stylish horse carriages trotting down the street.  Or perhaps conquer up the swishing sound of grand ladies walking slowly dressed in Parsian and New York silk and coton high style dresses, carryig parasols, going to High Tea.

  • GARDEN GAZEBO

    GARDEN GAZEBO

Do you like to sit outside enjoying the beauty of flowers in the sunlight?  Perhaps you also like hearing birds sing and watching acrobatic flying squirels jump between trees?  Maybe you like to read a book, verbalize romantic poems or sing inside the Gazebo?  Some propose and get married in our gazebo next.  Wedding guests sit in the shade of our gorgeous150 year old Southern Magnolia (Magnolia Grandiflora).   This Gazebo is also the focus of a Birmingham author's new novel.

  • ENTRY PARLOR

    ENTRY PARLOR

As you enter the Mansion, there are guest treats near the front door for your enjoyment, magazines, recipes and helpful Regional touring information.  Back in the day, the butler would have greeted you,  you would have placed your calling card (like modern business cards except much prettier) on a silver tray.  The Butler would take it to the Lady or Gentleman of the house, to see if you were to be admitted.  Our guests, are of course, welcome to enter into the Parlors and common areas.

  • MAIN PARLOR

    MAIN PARLOR

To the left of the front door is the Ladies Main Parlor.  Imagine grand ladies sitting about drinking tea with perhaps some delicious European chocolate bon bons.  Maybe someone is playing the Victorola or the pump organ.  Guests are encouraged to enjoy this lovely room where the many crystals come alive with rainbow prism colors in the late afternoon going towards sunset.

  • DINING ROOM

    DINING ROOM

The Victorian Dining Room has been fully restored and can accommodate up to 26 guests.  There are a variety of table sizes and possible seating arrangements.  Some guests perfer the tables for 2, or a family might choose a table of 4.  Most choose the main table where lively conversations occur as travelers from around the country and world gather, by chance, and meet interesting people.  The fine china and decor is changed regularly according to the season of the year and type of special occasion (Bridal Tea, Baby Shower, Wedding Reception, etc).
