Cape Charles is located at the southern tip of the Delmarva peninsula in eastern Virginia. Some festivals to check out while you are staying at your Cape Charles bed and breakfast include the Tomato Fall Festival, started in 2008, which presents an array of local artists' work and crafts. The variety of spectacular tomato dishes, including stewed tomatoes, tomato pie, fried green tomatoes, tomato pizza and tomato wine certainly help make this festival famous. The family-friendly Chincoteague Blueberry Festival is the largest show for fine arts and crafts from over 125 find artists and crafters from 10 states on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The festival is held annually in July. Did we mention there are also yummy fresh blueberries and live music? Stay at a Cape Charles B&B or Cape Charles inn and you may get the chance to see railroad operations. A concrete plant is still in operation in town and makes preformed items. This plant created all the concrete structures for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and tunnel which is nearby. The Chesapeake restaurant on the main road serves excellent seafood. Try the stuffed flounder with crab imperial. If you are lucky, there will be some local Jazz musicians playing. Rayfield's Pharmacy, also on the main road, has a nice counter for lunch and breakfast.
