  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Tammy for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

There are many reasons to visit The Tennessee Guest Ranch. Travelers visit because they love horses and want to learn more about them. Many come to experience an amazing all-inclusive Dude Ranch Vacation and learn all about the history of the American Cowboy. Some guests just want a Farm Stay for a night or two so they can enjoy milking the cow or goat, gathering eggs from the chickens and participating in the Breakfast Cooking Class that promotes a healthy diet. Farm Stay guests, as well as local adventure seekers, almost always plan to go out for one of our Day Ride Programs where they are able to appreciate even more of the breathtaking scenery of the Sequatchie Valley.

What are you best known for?   What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

The Tennessee Dude & Guest Ranch is known for its unique horse programs with professional horsemanship training on 'your very own guest ranch horse'. With many international travelers that visit also, we seek to lavish each guest with individual attention and lots of Southern Hospitality! We are very family oriented and kid friendly. Many of our guests return year after year. The most unique aspect about our ranch is that we teach our guests what the Bible says about God's amazing creature, the Horse!

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

We are located just a gallop away from Chattanooga, TN, one of the top 100 cities to visit! The ranch is also within approximately 100 miles of Nashville, The Great Smokey Mountains, and Atlanta, GA!

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

We have been to the ranch several times. From the first visit we were treated like family. The staff, wranglers, horses, activities are all amazing. The staff are so personal with each guest and go out of their way to be sure that everyone is comfortable and feels 'at home'. Each time we ask our grandchildren where they want to go on vacation, their reply is always "back to the Tennessee Guest Ranch"! They always want to go back and ride their pony or horse again and they love to feel like real Cowboys & Cowgirls! There is so much to learn, from the history of the Cowboys and their healthy diet to what the Bible has to say about horses!

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The Tennessee Dude & Guest Ranch is definitely the best kept secret in the tiny town of Dunlap and the nearby city of Chattanooga, although new adventure seekers are discovering us everyday! We are known internationally and around the country, via the internet, however.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

The all-inclusive stay doesn't leave much time for outside activities. However, if the guests are here for a Farm Stay, there are many possibilities such as hiking and great waterfall trails, hangliding, sky diving. Chattanooga has an abundance of attractions, restaurants, and places to discover!

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

Our ranch is located in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley. It is surrounded by farmlands and breathtaking scenery. We are, of course, out in the country so there isn't a need to walk anywhere except down the country road that we are located on to enjoy the peacefullness and majestic scenery.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

The Cookie Jar Cafe' is just minutes away from the ranch. It is located on a historic dairy farm and offers a menu of Southern Country Cuisine, all home made, including their delicious deserts! We always recommend it to our guests.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

    Do you accept pets?

There are many animals to enjoy at the ranch. We are not equipped to kennel other animals for guests.
