Just south of the North Carolina border, Spartanburg is the county seat and largest city of Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Its annual Sidewalk Arts Show is an open, juried art exhibition that is concurrent with the International Festival on the first Saturday in October. Held at Barnet Park, the International Festival showcases culture and cuisine from around the globe. The Hub City Farmer's Market is an outdoor marketplace which is open each Saturday from 7am-noon in the Magnolia Street Train Station during the summer and fall. Morgan Square is the town's center and its main area for shopping. The center of the square has a beautiful water fountain where many locals hang out. Demetre's Gourmet Grill serves a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, fresh seafood, char-grilled steaks, chicken, and pasta dishes daily at lunch and dinner. Kanpai of Tokyo is one of the most popular restaurants in Spartanburg. This Japanese steakhouse offers a choice of both hibachi cooking and sushi, so you can sample the various delights of Japanese cuisine. For added enjoyment, most of the food is prepared right before your eyes, either tableside or at the open sushi counter. After your meal, head to a comfy Spartanburg inn or B&B for the rest of the night.
