Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Lori Donaldson for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com! Why do most travelers stay at your inn?
Most of our travelers are here to explore Greenville, either as a getaway vacation or with the possibility of relocating to the area. With a thriving Main Street, downtown is full of restaurants, shopping, museums, and galleries. And the cultural scene is a full spectrum of theaters, musical performances, and art festivals. Our proximity to downtown also makes us convenient for business travelers as well.
What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?
We are a downtown bed and breakfast that includes both the charm of a historic home and the warmth of Southern hospitality.
If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?
Greenville is the cultural center of our state and boasts a thriving art community, an impressive array of culinary destinations, and is at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains for those seeking an outdoor adventure.
What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?
Guests often tell us we are the total package – with comfortable beds, beautifully decorated rooms, delicious breakfasts, and a garden that makes everyone want to spend more time in their own yard; we are a true gem and a special place to call your home away from home while in Greenville.
What’s the best kept secret about the area?
With well over 60 restaurants within a two- mile strip of Main Street, Greenville is truly a dining destination and boasts restaurants and chefs with much national acclaim. And even more exciting for us is that the vast majority of these restaurants is independently owned and has the variety to satisfy just about any taste.
If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?
Our first stop would be beautiful Falls Park in the heart of downtown. This terraced park features a cantilevered suspension bridge overlooking the Reedy River Falls. We would make sure to catch at least one show at either the Peace Center or one of our smaller independent theaters like Centre Stage or Greenville Little Theatre. Dinner out could be anything from tapas one night to Southern classics the next to seafood or steaks. Most months include opportunities for free outdoor concerts or maybe a minor league baseball game at Fluor Field. And perhaps a day at the Art Museum or Upcountry History Museum, maybe some shopping at various antique stores, or if you’re feeling adventurous, grab a bike to rent and head out on the 27 miles of trails in and around downtown.
Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?
Just about everything you could think of is within 2 miles of our inn. We have well over 60 restaurants, 6 performing arts venues, various museums, art galleries, shops, a baseball stadium, several parks, and our local zoo. Our business travelers also find us convenient for meetings and conventions while in town.
What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?
With so many choices, this is perhaps our most difficult question but some of our go to favorites include Soby’s for new Southern classics, Larkin’s on the River for a delicious steak, Smoke on the Water for barbeque, Barley’s for the best pizza and beer, and American Grocery Restaurant for a true fine dining experience.
Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?
Our area Greenville Convention and Visitors Bureau includes great information on what to do in the area as well as a thorough calendar of events so you can plan your stay.
How many rooms does your inn have?
We have 6 guest rooms.
Do you accept pets?
We do not accept pets, but the Red Horse Inn in Landrum does.
