The 1740 House is located in the historic, riverside village of Lumberville, just 6 miles from the downtowns of tourist destinations New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ. The village’s history dates back to the Revolutionary period when it was settled by former Colonial Officer George Wall. The town was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Lumberville remains the Pennsylvania landing point for the pedestrian-only bridge from Bull’s Island Recreational Area, a popular New Jersey State Park located just across the Delaware River from the 1740 House. A perfect spot to begin a day of biking, hiking, fishing, or canoeing and kayaking.
The 1740 House also sits along the Delaware Canal State Park, which offers 60 miles of paths for outdoor activities, stretching from Easton to Bristol, PA. Whether by foot, bike, or car, the 1740 House is also an ideal point to explore the historic covered bridges of Bucks County.
