Located in the Brandywine Valley, Hamanassett is a grand 1856 English Country house located on 7 acres. The historic property offers all the charm of a bygone era with the amenities expected by today's travelers. IAll rooms have private ensuite baths and are furnished with antiques, oriental carpets, plush robes, Gilchrist and Soames toiletries, and coffee makers with all supplies. Several of the rooms have private balconies and beds with canopies. On the second floor you'll find a 24 hour guest pantry with a refrigerator stocked with drinks, a Keurig coffee maker, tea kettle, ice machine, and snacks. Each day fresh cookies are baked for our guests and you'll also find complimentary carafes of sherry and port.
Each morning begins with an elaborate breakast in the formal dining room. Breakfast begins with a fruit course and baked sweet treat followed by a main course with 2 sides. We serve LaCalombe coffee and an assortment of teas as well as your choice of juice. Enjoy playing a game of pool in the billiards room, read a book in the large living room in front of the fireplace (in season) or relax in the sunny sun room. You'll find rocking chairs on the front porch which overlooks the waterfall with koi. The horses are just waiting for you to bring them a snack which is provided by the bed and breakfast.
Hamanassett is within 10-25 minutes of all the Brandywine Valley attractions such as Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, Brandywine River Museum, Hagley and Neumours. We are less than 30 minutes southwest of Philadelphia and 30 minutes north of Wilmington, De.
We also have two 2 story 2 bedroom 2 bath cottages on the property for those who just want a little extra privacy or who are traveling with young children. Both cottages have fenced in yards and are dog friendly. One room in the main house is also dog friendly.
