  • Introduction

    Jacksonville Inn

Welcome to the Jacksonville Inn Bed & Breakfast, located in Jacksonville, Oregon

For a memorable getaway, the Jacksonville Inn, built in 1861 in the National Historic Landmark town of Jacksonville, Oregon, offers “suites extraordinaire”---the Honeymoon Cottages. Each has a jetted tub and steam shower, a full-entertainment center, fireplace, wet bar, a king-sized canopy bed, and private garden patio. A full breakfast is included with a reservation and is served in the award-winning gourmet restaurant located in the Jacksonville Inn’s historic building. The Portland Oregonian newspaper has referred to the cottages as luxurious and opulent accommodations. Complementing the cottages are also eight hotel rooms, housed in the upstairs of the historic Inn and equally as charming in décor.

The Inn’s full-service restaurant offers its guests the elegance of formal dining as well as the more casual dining in the Bistro or on a lovely garden patio. Acknowledged by locals through the Medford Mail Tribune’s "Readers’ Choice" poll as the “Best Restaurant” in the Rogue Valley for five consecutive years, the Inn also features a connoisseur’s wine cellar boasting more than 2,000 European and domestic wines, including an amazing offering of Oregon wines. It yearly receives the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine’s “Best of Award of Excellence” for having “one of the top 600 wine lists in the world.”

Three of the last four U. S. Presidents have been served by The Inn, and President George and Laura Bush stayed in one of Honeymoon Cottages during their campaign trip to southern Oregon.

Located at the entrance to the Applegate Valley Wine Trail and centered in the burgeoning Southern Oregon Wine Region, The Inn's outstanding Wine and Gift Shop, which GQ Magazine named one of the top 50 retail wine shops in America, boasts over 2,000 wines.

The Inn’s full-service Catering Department provides the same gourmet restaurant cuisine to guests in their private residence, at a place of business, or even at an outdoor event, both large and small.

  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Jerry & Linda Evans for sharing theirown secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

Many travelers choose to stay at the Jacksonville Inn to visit the history of Jacksonville, a town that blossomed in the mid 1800’s, when gold was discovered. Jacksonville is the first town in America wherein the entire core district of the community has been declared a National Historic Landmark. The JACKSONVILLE INN, established in 1861, has been declared a National Historic Landmark building. People are attracted to The Inn because it has a reputation of having served three of the last four United States Presidents and has provided lodging for a U.S. President and First Lady. Guests also stay with us while attending the Ashland Shakespeare Theater and also the Britt Outdoor Music Festival, which is a summer-long event located on the grassy, tree-covered hillside just a short distance from The Inn.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

The Jacksonville Inn has a reputation for serving delicious seasonal cuisine produced from locally sourced farmers and has a superb wine list with over 2,000 wines. The Inn is unique in that it has been operated under the same family ownership for 38 years and has developed a staff that has created warm and friendly relationships with our many visitors. We have had thousands of repeat customers over the years, which is most gratifying.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

We are centrally located in a National Historic town; we provide luxurious accommodations and outstanding cuisine.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

The White House called and asked if we would be interested in provided lodging for the President of the United States.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The multitude of fabulous wineries that produce world-class wines.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

Visit wineries; attend a Britt Music Concert; attend the Shakespeare Theater in Ashland; explore the historic community on Jacksonville, including the pioneer cemetery; motor to Crater Lake; hike the many wonderful trails surrounding Jacksonville; play golf on one of the many first-class gold courses in the Rogue Valley; raft the Wild and Scenic Rogue River.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

The core town of historic Jacksonville is outside our front door. It is a “browser's” delight to explore and a “shopper’s” escape from traffic and crowds. The Britt Festival is just a few blocks up the street.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

Our restaurant, of course! That being said, there are also pizza parlors, gourmet sandwich shops, an old-fashioned ice cream store, to name just a few.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

See the following websites:  www.jacksonvilleinn.com and www.uniqueinns.com.
