Wining and Dining at The White Oak Inn

An overnight stay at the Inn always includes one of our hearty country breakfasts. They are generous in portion, made from farm-fresh eggs and local meats. Every day features a choice between two different main courses, one sweet and one savory, both accompanied by Amish-style peppered bacon or maple sausage patties. Fresh fruit, home-baked muffins, our specialty roast coffee, and hot teas accompany all our breakfasts.

Whether it's to celebrate a special event such as an anniversary or birthday, a gathering of friends or just a time to relax and unwind, you don't want to miss dinner at the inn. The service is relaxed and unhurried. Menus are planned daily to take advantage of the finest produce, meat and fish available. We are happy to accommodate special dietary requests, such as for vegetarian, vegan or diabetic meals. Dinner prices are for a complete four course meal including non-alcoholic beverages and cost $40-$45/person.

We welcome parties and special events, including weddings, family reunions, Christmas parties, rehearsal dinners, and anniversary celebrations.

The Inn is an ideal place to hold business meetings or retreats for up to 20 guests. All-inclusive meeting packages start at $185 per person per day.

  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Yvonne Martin for sharing her own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

To enjoy a peaceful country getaway, with lots of nearby activities to enjoy during the daytime, and great dining in the evening.

What are you best known for?

Murder mysteries. We offer 6 public mystery weekends a year and can host private mystery parties for 16 to 21 people.

    What makes your inn unique?

The number of special events, packages, and options we offer to our guests. For example we offer elopement packages, honeymoons, babymoons, evening dining, a Spring Nature weekend, a fall music festival called Oakstock, New Years and Valentines packages that include dinner, and so on. There's a room or package for every budget or event, and if we don't already offer it, guests can tell us what they'd like and we'll create a package for them.

What do you love most about your inn?

The natural beauty of the property. We're on 14 wooded acres. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for guests to relax and enjoy the fresh air and the peace and quiet.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

We're not in a city, we're out in the country. But there are literally hundreds of things to see and do nearby - including touring Amish country, visiting cheese makers and wineries, antiquing, shopping, hiking, canoeing and kayaking, golfing, fishing, a zipline, checking out local potters and other artisans, an ice-cream museum and factory tour, cycling on rails-to-trails, covered bridges-the list goes on and on.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

A well-traveled guest said that our food rivaled what he'd eaten in some of the world's best restaurants.

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

The beautiful little park called Honey Run. It has a lovely waterfall, great hiking trails, and plenty of shade trees.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

I'd recommend taking a guided tour of Ohio's Amish country on the first day, preferably with a meal in an Amish home. That would give them an overview of the culture and expose them to some of the back roads and authentic experiences they might not find on their own. On another day use one of our self-guided tours to discover the potters and artisans of the area or go check out some of the local wineries and cheese-makers. I'd suggest one day enjoying the outdoors - whether it's walking or cycling on one of the many trails in the area, canoeing or fishing on the nearby river, ziplining and tree-climbing at Tree Frog Canopy tours, or golfing. Spend the fourth day discovering some of the lovely little towns in the area, antiquing, shopping, and eating. And somewhere in there, try to schedule an in-room massage.

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

Just secluded country roads and a lovely river.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

While the Inn itself offers the best fine dining in the area for evening meals, we have some great suggestions for lunch, including The Hangout or The Bad Apple Pub for fantastic burgers, and if you're exploring the eastern end of Amish Country, Rebecca's Bistro in Walnut Creek for wonderful home-made food.

How many rooms does your inn have?

We have 10 rooms and 2 cottages.

    Do you accept pets?

Two of our guesthouse rooms are suitable for pets.
