  • Matthews Manor Experience

    Across the street from Matthews Manor is a 98-acre wildlife habitat and park with a 5 acre lake for fishing, play area, picnic tables, walking trails, and biking trails. Mountain bikes are available for rental at the Manor and the surrounding neighborhood is a pleasant and safe place for an evening walk.

    Enjoy a round of golf at some of North Carolina's most beautiful and renowned private or public courses. Or stay at the Manor and explore the beautiful collection of art displayed in the common areas. Take a walk into downtown Matthews and experience the charming touches representing what was once a small farming community and train depot with shops and fine dining for any palate. A side entrance leads to the garden area filled with an abundance of unique plantings and flowering trees and several comfortable places to sit and enjoy the afternoon sun. Curl up with a good book or just enjoy an afternoon tea while listening to the chirping of the birds.

    Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

    People stay with us because we are a unique, eclectic, quiet & restful B&B.

    What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

    We are best known for our Antiques & Artwork.

    If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

    They come to for many different attractions in the area; Nascar Hall of Fame, Billy Graham Library, Paramount Carowinds, and White Water Olympic Trials. We are also only 9 miles from Charlotte.

    What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

    Our very first guest was a Colonel who said he would have never known that he was our first guest! He was very impressed and had stayed in many high end places.

    What’s the best kept secret about the area?

    The best kept secret is Charlotte, the weather, the quality of life and the friendliness here.

    If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

    Paramount Carowinds, white water rafting park, Nascar Hall of Fame, Nascar Races, and North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Charlotte also has museums, nice parks, historical sites and shopping.

    Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

    There is a park that is 1 1/2 blocks away that has pavilions, a 7 acre lake, and hiking trails. We are also within walking to downtown Matthews.

    What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

    Cafe 157 and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

    We have 4 rooms.

    Do you accept pets?

    We do not accept pets but sometimes refer guests to our groomer for pet boarding.
