  • Introduction

Our romantic Maine Coast bed and breakfast offers well appointed accommodations in a historic setting. The Inn, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was built in 1874 by Captain Nickels as a gift to his bride, Elizabeth. The breathtaking Captain’s home sits on 3 meandering acres directly on the island-studded Penobscot Bay halfway between the beautiful towns of Camden and Bar Harbor in the quaint town of Searsport.

Meander along the beautiful grounds to the shoreline where you will find seating in classic Adirondack chairs, as well as a summer cottage with a deck and fire pit. The scenic setting provides for quiet moments of reflection. Croquet, bad minton, bocce ball and horseshoes can be enjoyed on the expansive lawns.

Our individually designed rooms are beautifully appointed with period antiques and comfy beds. Guests awake each morning to views of the sunrise across the bay and the smells of a gourmet breakfast being prepared. The murmur of waves from the bay and wonderful sea air enhance the restful atmosphere. Guest areas include two sitting rooms, a library with roaring fires on cool evenings, a dining room where breakfast is served between 7:30 am and 9:00 am each morning, a beautiful solarium with views to the sea, and expansive decks with comfortable seating and fire pits.

At our Searsport bed and breakfast, awaken to the fresh aroma of coffee and tea served in the dining room starting at 07:00. We invite you to enjoy a cup relaxing in front of one of the many fireplaces, on the lovely patio, or at the water’s edge, while we prepare a gourmet breakfast for you. Breakfast is served between 07:30 and 9:00 each morning to accommodate our guests who are ready to start their days early, taking part in the many local activities, or our guests who have silenced their alarm clock to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Each morning at the Captain Nickels begins with a first course of fresh, seasonal fruit accompanied by yogurt and our own homemade granola. The second course will include either a sweet or savory dish. Sweet mornings may consist of Caramelized French Toast with a Pecan Praline Syrup, or our Tri-Berry Baked Pancakes. A savory dish may be personalized Frittatas or Cass’ Famous Chicken and Waffles. We encourage our guests to let us know their food preferences/sensitivities, and will always be happy to offer an alternative. Our dining room and solarium offer private tables. Sit, relax, and enjoy our beautiful views while you dine.
