Telluride is the most populous town of San Miguel County in the southwestern portion of Colorado. This charming city is a well-known tourist destination and offers many things to do. If you are staying at a Telluride bed and breakfast or ski lodge, you can easily explore all this town has to offer. Every summer The Telluride Jazz Festival creates a wonderful atmosphere of music in Town Park as well as local venues during the evening. At the other end of the spectrum, the Telluride Tech Festival honors Nunn, Tesla, and Westinghouse, along with todays leaders in science and technology. Then theres the Telluride mining history to explore. Mining was Tellurides only industry up until 1972. The most famous historic sites are the Tomboy, Pandora, Smuggler-Union, Nellie, and Sheridan mines. But when the first ski lift was installed by the Telluride Ski Corporation, several decades ago, it turned the mining community into a snow-lovers paradise. Today, many ski resorts and businesses dot the area. If you are in town to hit the slopes, a Telluride B&B or Telluride inn makes for the ideal setting. When its time to eat, Telluride doesnt disappoint either. Cosmopolitan Telluride is a fine-dining restaurant, but also casual enough for a relaxing meal after skiing the trails.
