  • Insider's Info

Travelers are always looking for memorable and relaxing experiences. Let’s discover more through the words of our innkeepers. Many thanks to Michael Wade for sharing his own secrets with BBOnline.com!
Why do most travelers stay at your inn?

There are several reasons… The Queen Anne’s unique architectural beauty evokes warm and rich feelings of a bygone era. So a stay here is a completely different experience than you would find any other hotel in San Francisco. We are also known for our friendly and efficient guest service, which has also built a huge following of repeat guests over the years. Our convenient location to all points in the City is another highlight. And finally a wonderful array of complimentary amenities makes a stay at the Queen Anne Hotel an excellent value.

What are you best known for? What makes your inn unique? What do you love most about your inn?

The Queen Anne Hotel is best known for its spacious and elegant rooms and lavish Parlor with crackling fireplaces, chandeliers, and marvelous antique furnishings. What make us unique are the historic features that have been so well preserved, and the personal attention we are able to provide for our guests. What I/we love most about the Queen Anne is the special feeling she gives to people who like unique experiences.

If someone has never been to your city, what is the #1 reason to come visit?

The number one reason to visit San Francisco is for its wild and romantic beauty.

What’s the best compliment you have ever received about the inn?

Because there are several different kinds of ‘best compliment received’.. I can’t choose and would hate to leave the others out if I did!

What’s the best kept secret about the area?

If we are talking about San Francisco… I would say it’s the fact that each neighborhood has its own character and flair. In our own neighborhood, Pacific Heights, there are three:
    1. The grand Victorian mansions that are sight to behold. 2. Fillmore Street and Japantown are absolutely incredible for shopping.
    3. The local neighborhood restaurants ranks amongst the very best San Francisco has to offer.

If a traveler is staying at your inn for 4 nights, what should he/she do in the area?

Sit at our fabulous concierge desk! Because it really depends on several factors including individual taste or desires And of course, San Francisco’s ever changing weather. Our courteous and occasionally comedic concierge can really Be a great resource to help you make the most of your stay in San Francisco, according to what YOU would like to do!

Is there anything within walking distance of your inn?

The whole city is within walking distance of the Queen Anne Hotel. Since the majority of the city is only 2 miles across And the Queen Anne is right in the middle, we are a perfect “home base” for your travels here. We also have a complimentary Towncar on weekday mornings that can deliver you to a local destination like Fisherman’s Wharf or Union Square.

What is your favorite restaurant/food in the area?

Another extremely difficult question to answer because there are so many. Fillmore Street is filled with excellent restaurants. Japantown has the best fresh sushi. My favorite food in the city currently is at the Farmer’s Market on Saturdays down at The Ferry Building on the Embarcadero.

Any good area guides/websites that travelers could reference?

How many rooms does your inn have?

48 including 7 suites and some rooms with two queen beds.

    Do you accept pets?

There are a lot of hotels accepting pets now… The best thing to do is GOOGLE “San Francisco Pet Friendly Hotels”. Unfortunately we cannot accept pets at the Queen Anne Hotel… (Except for the two-legged variety!)
