Tip #70 - Ask About Cancellation/Return Policies Before You Need Them

There's nothing worse than assuming you can cancel a room with no problem, only to cancel and find that there IS a problem. This applies not only to accommodations and travel plans but also clothing and souvenir stores while on the road. Many small establishments are not able to offer a liberal return policy (or cancellation policy) as some larger venues.  Be sure to ask before purchasing. Document who you spoke to, and the time and the date, just in case of a mishap.
