Mrs. Jensen's Spice Cake

From DREAMS OF YESTERYEAR VICTORIAN BED & BREAKFAST
3/4 cup butter, very scant
2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 cup sour milk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
Pinch of salt
Add 2 cups fruit and nuts if wanted

Caramel Frosting
Good cup of sugar
Wet with maple syrup
Piece of butter
Mapleine
If too thick – thin with cream

Sorry, no mixing/baking/cooking directions came with the recipes. But I think you can probably use your imagination and give it a try. I’m not sure what mapleine is. I’m guessing some brand of maple extract? Enjoy!
