Cherry Nut Cake
From MARIGOLD BED & BREAKFAST
3 Cups sifted cake flour 1 Cup milk 3 teas. baking powder 1 teas. vanilla 1/2 teas. salt 3/4 cup nut meats 1 Cup shortening (Crisco) 25 Marochino Cherries (cut fine) 2 Cups sugar 4 egg whites beaten stiff 4 Egg yolks |
Cream sugar and shortening, add yolks, add dry ingredients allernately with milk, add cherries, and nuts fold in beaten egg whites. Bake 375 deg. 25-30 minutes in a 3-9 inch pan.
ICING Mix flour and sugar, add egg, and milk and vanilla, cook over low flame until thickened cool. Add 1/2 lb. sweet butter, beat until fluffy. |
