Chocolate Cinnamon Sheath Cake
From THE GRAND ANNE BED & BREAKFASTCooking Time:
15 to 20 mnutesIngredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups flour
- 2 sticks butter
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 eggs slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ cup buttermilk, can use regular milk with a tablespoon added of vinegar in substitution
- Dash salt
- 2-4 tablespoons cocoa, I usually use 4 rounded tablespoons of cocoa (My family likes a darker chocolate)
- 1 stick butter
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
Directions
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
Sift together and set aside in large bowl.
2 sticks butter
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
Heat on stove to boiling and then mix with flour/sugar mixture in large bowl.
Add:
1 teaspoon soda
2 eggs slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup buttermilk, can use regular milk with a tablespoon added of vinegar in substitution
Dash salt
Mix well and pour into greased sheath cake pan. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350-375.
Icing:
2-4 tablespoons cocoa, I usually use 4 rounded tablespoons of cocoa (My family likes a darker chocolate)
1 stick butter
¼ cup milk
2 ½ cups powdered sugar
Cook above mixture on medium heat until creamy and pour over warm cake. Serve warm with homemade ice cream.
