Built in 1857 this is a country antebellum home suited for American history enthusiasts.
Located just outside Smiths Grove, Kentucky, the house was an established Bed and Breakfast operation for fifteen years. There are two guest bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. Resident living quarters are located in the home's rear upstairs; consisting of a large living room, bedroom and bath.
The house retains the original twelve foot ceilings, yellow poplar wood floors, inside plantation shutters, decorative parlor mural, and the large spiral staircase which commences at the front door entry foyer. The home has a large dine-in kitchen, utility room, formal dining room with a fireplace, and an additional large informal dining area. There are a total of thirteen rooms, five fireplaces, and three bathrooms in the main house. The home is situated on 7.5 acres.
The one room school house with a private bathroom has also been used for guest accommodations. School teachers are especially attracted to this guest room choice. There is a nine stall horse barn for equine devotees and outbuildings for storage.
