Hog Island Lighthouse Lens
Among the many beautiful and historic places in the area are the various light houses that offer not only great views but great stories as well. The Hog Island Lighthouse was built in the mid-1850s and was later destroyed by ocean storms. The original lens that now rests in its stead offers both historical significance and something fun for the whole family. Visit from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. year-round. Children and pets are welcome, admission is free and it is handicap accessible so that everyone can enjoy themselves here.

Started by two guys who really wanted a place to buy excellent wine and cheese, Angry Adam's offers some of the best wine and cheese around, and is open for both wine and cheese tasting on Fridays. This little shop opened in 2009 and has a distinctly homey feeling to it, as well as being classy and selling delicious wines, cheeses, and sandwiches which they deliver to old town Portsmouth, VA each day at lunch time.
