Whitewater rafting trips in the Lehigh River are available from March to October at Jim Thorpe River Adventures, a famous rafting center that is located close to your Jim Thorpe Bed and Breakfast. There are several trips with different levels of difficulty available at this rafting center. If you are new to the sport of whitewater rafting, you can opt for a Class 1 to 2 rapids raft trip, which covers a distance of 10 miles and lasts for about 4 hours. Experienced rafting guides will be present to show you the basics of rafting, such as how to control the raft and use the paddle effectively. They will also go rafting along with your group, escorting you until the end of the trip. All the guides are very professional, and they will try their best to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable whitewater rafting experience.

If you have some experience in whitewater rafting, you should try the more challenging raft trips. There are two Class 2 to 3 rafting trips; one in the Lower Gorge and the other in the Upper Gorge. The Lower Gorge trip takes you 12.8 miles down the Lehigh River, and the duration is about 4 to 5 hours. The Upper Gorge course measures only 8.7 miles, but it's just as challenging. You will be provided with all the necessary equipment for rafting, which include a raft, floatation devices and paddles. The rafting center has facilities such as heated changing rooms, hot showers and picnic grounds, so that you don't have to wait until you get back to your Jim Thorpe Inn to clean up.  

There is also a more relaxing rafting trip that caters to the preferences of families with young children. The Summer Family Rafting Trip is available from May to October, and it offers the opportunity for children as young as 4 years old to discover the joys of whitewater rafting. This trip takes place at Section 3 of the Lehigh River, and it runs for a total distance of 8 miles. It's the perfect option for those who want to experience the thrill of rafting without missing out on the great natural beauty of the state park.
