The stream runs deep into the Croatan National Forest, and there are many secluded spots along the way that are perfect for fishing. To get to the Brice Creek Landing from your New Bern Bed and Breakfast, you have to take Highway 70 East, and then follow Riverdale Road, or SR 1101, on the right. Turn right when you reach Forest Road 170 and take another right at Forest Road 610. Go straight until you reach the Brice Creek Landing.

The White Oak River is another great fishing spot in New Bern. Things to do for outdoor enthusiasts in the city usually include exploring this river, because it not only offers excellent fishing, but is also a wonderful place for canoeing and camping. The river is accessible by car from a few neighboring towns and cities, namely, New Bern, Maysville, Swansboro and Morehead City. Some people also explore the river by boat, which can be launched from Haywood Landing. No fee is required to launch a boat. If you are planning to drive to Haywood Landing from your New Bern Inn, you will find ample parking space at the site.

White Oak River is a favorite destination for local anglers because it offers one of the finest bass fishing experiences in New Bern. Other than largemouth and striped bass, you will also find catfish, sunfish and pickerel in the river. The river area is also a gateway to popular saltwater fishing spots such as the Atlantic Ocean and Bogue Sound, where there are fish species such as trout, bluefish, flounder, croaker, spot and Spanish mackerel.
