Konehete Park is located in the heart of Muphy, North Carolina, along the Valley River which winds its way through town. The park is well maintained and has lots to offer visitors. You can have a picnic and enjoy the playground equipment, or play a game of tennis, soccer or baseball while you're there. There is also a pool and gym on the grounds. The River Walk in Murphy, North Carolina, is an ongoing project for the citizens. The River Walk continues to expand along the Hiwassee and Valley Rivers near the old downtown area. You can begin your walk at Konehete Park and end your journey near the old depot. Most of the pathways are paved, with some boardwalks overlooking the river. The walk is primarily shaded by trees along the river. The trail is a little over three miles in length, round trip. The walk will take you past many of the town's shops, restaurants and even an ice cream shop. 2011 plans will include construction of a loop near the convergence of the two rivers where Lake Hiwassee is formed.

Tsali Recreation Area is a great place to relax and enjoy the mountains. It is located just east of Muphy on the beautiful Lake Fontana. There are 42 miles of trails in the area, and most are open for walking, horseback riding, and are especially challenging for mountain bikers. If you're looking for something a little less adventurous, bring your boat and try your hand at some fishing. There is a public boat ramp on the lake. There are also restrooms, water fountains and a picnic area near the entrance. Tsali is open year round and there are no charges except for campers.

The Cherokee Hills Golf Course offers visitors over 6,000 yards of golfing fun. The course opened in 1969 and has a course rating of 70.0. The course is well maintained and is a great spot for beginners as well as those who want a challenge. You will enjoy the scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains as you work your way through all 18 holes. Stop in at the clubhouse for lunch while you're there.
