Outdoor festivals and events are held at the Clinton Square in the historic center of downtown Syracuse with year round outdoor activities, including the New York State Blues Fest. This location also offers the Clinton Square Ice Rink for skating, weather permitting. The skating area attracts more than 20,000 visitors each year. Visiting Clinton Square is one of the many fun things to do in Syracuse, and can be accessed easily from your nearby Syracuse inn.

Mid-Lakes Navigation offers great cruises on the Erie Canal and Skaneateles Lake. For the Skaneateles Lake option, the daily cruises are offered normally from mid-May until the start of October. Both scenic 50-minute and two- to three-day cruises are available. The Erie Canal cruises are usually offered from June 20th to August 30th. These tours are just minutes from downtown Syracuse, and make for a fun getaway from your Syracuse bed and breakfast.

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo includes lions, tigers, monkeys, fish, birds, reptiles and more. This beautiful zoo offers both indoor and outdoor exhibit areas with fun demonstrations and shows. Hours for the zoo are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day, except normally on major holidays.

The Madison-Bouckville Outdoor Antiques Show and market is about 30 minutes away, and is another fabulous choice of things to do in Syracuse. This outdoor area offers summer, fall and winter shows and artifacts. Admission is about $7 per person as of 2011, with the cost for children under the age of 12 being free. There is no cost for parking. Sellers have the opportunity to try to deal and offer pieces for sale as well. Concession stands are available for delicious snacks and beverages.

The Fairmont Glen miniature golf course has been offering fabulous golfing and fun for several decades. It has won "Y94FM Best of the Burbs" and been voted by the Syracuse New Times readers as the "Best Miniature Golf Course." This outdoor activity is fun for both young and old alike. The price for a game is usually $6.50 per adult with a special of all-you-can-play in 2 hours for $9.75 (2011 prices). Children of 5 years of age and less are admitted free.
