Not very far from the warmth of your Cascade Inn is a great bookstore outside the Pike National Forest. They're an independent and well-known book store. Many local book clubs have meetings here, and during your Cascade Shopping spree, you might catch the local knitting group there as well. They have several educational classes for children and adults alike, presentations of new and collectible-antique reading material and an occasional art showcase of local artists' works. They have a wide variety of books, hardbacks, paperbacks and DVD sets. They change hours for the winter months, so call ahead to check store hours. This book store has a cozy atmosphere. You can grab a book while there, find a nice spot and read while enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

Many of the shops are a few miles from the city itself, like this bookstore. However, it's still worth the drive. At Bookman you will find a large selection of used books with great prices. They have a regular shipment of new material and present the list online, so if you're tight on time, you can call them up and they'll hold a selection for you until you can pick up. The staff is knowledgeable of all the material and you can find the owner always around helping whomever she can. They're open seven days a week. They are big supporters of Books for Kids, and ship numerous books to less fortunate countries. Their selection of kid's books is massive and offers everything from infants to graduating high school seniors. Among the wide range of books, they also sell portable typewriters starting as low as $99.

You walk into the building smelling freshly brewed coffee and be welcomed by a friendly staff upon entering the door. The atmosphere is peaceful and gentle. They have an array of books to read on religion, philosophy and classic novels from many great writers. They have discussion topics on their chosen book of the month and welcome all to sit in on meetings. They have live music every Wednesday from local blues artists. The menu is full of delicious sandwiches, salads and soups. You can order a nice treat, return to your Cascade Bed and Breakfast and end the evening reading and snacking on your new treasures.
