| Introduction |

Our Bed & Breakfast is a charming 3-story fieldstone home nestled on the side of Tunnel Mountain (part of Cheat Mountain), on fourteen private, wooded acres, surrounded by scenic peaks, lush forests and sparkling rivers. We are named for the 1890 railroad tunnel which passes under our hillside.

Visit our wildflowers in the spring, go adventuring in the summer, come for the leaves in the fall, ski in the winter, and enjoy all the beauty and hospitality of West Virginia!
Elkins is the home of Davis & Elkins College, the annual Augusta Arts & Crafts Workshops and Festival (a five-week summer attraction), the annual Mountain State Forest Festival (a week-long fall attraction), and the annual spring Ramp Festival & Cook-off (ramps are a popular wild "leek", well known and enjoyed by West Virginians). The city also offers historic sites, antiques & craft shops and excellent restaurants.
- Close by are Blackwater Falls & Canaan Valley State Parks, Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob (highest point in West Virginia).
- Also available are many more places for hiking or biking, cross-country & down-hill skiing, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, canoeing, rafting, swimming, golfing, tennis, spelunking and antiquing.
- Major festival events occur throughout the year.
- Snowshoe & Silver Creek Ski Areas are but an hour away as is the popular Cass Scenic Railroad.
- There's the 998,000-acre Monongahela National Forest just down the road for hiking or cross-country skiing, and the Cheat River for fishing or canoeing.
- Otter Creek Wilderness Area for great hiking trails.
- Bickle Knob for a panoramic view high atop its 55-foot observation tower.
Since we have separate owners' quarters, you can relax undisturbed by the living room fireplace, on the porch or patio, or take a leisurely walk on the property (you may spot a deer or other wildlife).

The interior is finished in pine and rare wormy chestnut woodwork. Tastefully decorated throughout with antiques, collectibles and crafts, it extends a warm and friendly atmosphere to guests looking for a country retreat. Our three romantic guest rooms, each with its own private bath, offer sensational views, lovely antiques, and handmade comforters. You can choose our pre-Civil War canopy bed room, the snug antique rope bed room or our cozy third floor wormy chestnut paneled queen size bed room. We have recently added The Riverside Retreat to our properties. This newly renovated cozy cottage sits along the Cheat River, has a 360 sq. foot deck, a fully equipped kitchen, bath, one bedroom and dining area. The cottage can sleep six and offers the perfect escape for a honeymoon, family retreat, fishing, hunting or just watching the world go by. Your full breakfast is served at our one-of-a-kind antique dining room table in a setting punctuated with knick-knacks and antiques (a continental breakfast is served during the five-week Augusta Heritage Festival period - July, August). Freshly ground coffee (or tea if you wish) is always available. We will prepare breakfast for guests with special diet requirements. Simply tell us your needs when your reservations are made.
