Welcome to Buckhannon, West Virginia
Buckhannon is a city in Upshur County, West Virginia along the Buckhannon River. Buckhannon is home to West Virginia Wesleyan College and the annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival, held annually on the third week of May. The city is located 112 miles northeast from Charleston and 144 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In the recently renovated State Wildlife Center located in Upshur County, native animals can be seen in a natural environment. The County has two golf courses, eighteen playgrounds and sixteen tennis courts. There is also a lake for fishing (Stone Coal Lake). Three major ski resorts, Canaan Valley, Timberline and Snowshoe are located approximately 60 to 80 miles from Buckhannon. Also in the same area is White Grass, a cross country ski resort.
The Upshur County Fair takes place annually during the month of July and West Virginia''s Largest Yard Sale takes place for three days in August.
