Introduction
In 1903, George and Eva Blessing, the owners of the Old Port Brewing Corp., built the house of their dreams on Sweetcake Hill, one of the highest points in town. Embellished with beautiful woodwork, hardwood floors, stained and leaded glass, pocket doors and coved ceilings, the Blessings added large bay windows and a balcony from which to enjoy their view of Lake Michigan.
2007 enhancements to the Port Washington Inn include a beautifully re-envisioned Grace's Suite and more comfortable seating in the lakeview dormer of the Top of the World Suite and in Noelle's Room. Two years ago major enhancements included a completely new 3rd floor suite, central air conditioning, new beverage centers on each guest level, and wireless internet capability. Breakfast is delectable and generous, so don't worry about those morning hunger pangs! An AGA cook stove, centerpiece of the new inn kitchen, only encourages Rita & Dave’s culinary inclinations. Come enjoy!
The comforts of home surround you at Port Washington Inn. Arrive to a plate of homemade cookies waiting in your room. A wide variety of teas, cocoa, freshly ground coffee, and herbal iced tea or lemonade are available outside your room. Relax in the privacy of your room or seek out the company of other guests in the parlor, on the front porch, or the back deck. Select a good movie or CD to enjoy in the comfort of your room. The library holds a collection of board games and puzzles. The guest telephone is located in the front foyer of the first floor, and data ports are available in some guest rooms.

Port Washington, City of Seven Hills, was founded in 1835 and became a primary harbor on Lake Michigan’s western shore as well as the first man-made harbor in the country. Historically a fishing community, it is appropriate that charter fishing continues to be a big industry in Port Washington. Sailors also use the marina and welcome its easy access to the town. Many enhancements were made to the marina in the 1990's, making it a more popular place for residents and visitors to stroll and picnic.

Visiting Port Washington today is an experience for the senses. It is visually picturesque, tranquil in pace, abundant in eateries, and friendly in nature. In fact, many people who visit fall in love with the City of Seven Hills! Take a walk, enjoy our parks and marina, ride the bike trail, linger in our coffee shops and restaurants, visit our antique and specialty shops. Port Washington is a world apart from the hustle and bustle.
Tall ships are welcomed into Port’s harbor, a reminder of days gone by when shipping vessels arriving in the port numbered in the hundreds. Lake Michigan’s penchant for fast brewing storms has led to tales of shipwrecks along these shores, many of them chronicled by Richard Smith and available at Port Washington Inn.
