Minocqua is a town in Oneida County. Cruisefest, held in February, is the local snowmobile parade. Big Arbor Vitae Lake in Minocqua in January holds the annual Chill Out Ice Fishing Tournament. Other events going on throughout the day are raffles, a cook-out on the ice, bon fire and kitty cat snowmobile races in front of Slo's Pub on Big Arbor Vitae Lake. Rainbow Flowage is an official Wisconsin Important Bird Site. This 5,000-acre habitat is home to many interesting birds, including Merlins, Spruce Grouse, Black-Backed Woodpeckers, Gray Jays, Boreal Chickadees, Olive-sided Flycatchers, Yellow-bellied Flycatchers and evening grosbeak. Northern Lights Playhouse - located 10 miles south of Minocqua on Hwy 51 in Hazelhurst is an indoor theater presenting entertaining musicals, comedies and a children's theater. The resident company is comprised of professional actors from across the country. Anthony's Ristorante, LLC located on trail #17 near Minocqua is acclaimed for its fine dining in a casual atmosphere. Serving steaks, seafood, pasta, contemporary American fare and Italian specialties it’s a local favorite.
