Introduction
The Life O' Riley Farm is located on 160 acres approximately 6 miles south of Boscobel, in Southwest Wisconsin.
A dairy farm into the 70's, it is now cropped for corn, oats and hay. We have a small greenhouse and extensive gardens where we grow not only the bulk of our food, but also many everlastings. Bedding plants and perennials are available in season.
We raise our own meat and eggs and the schoolhouse kitchen is always stocked with coffee, fresh eggs and a loaf of homemade bread or pan of cinnamon rolls.
We invite you to explore the farm, which includes two small rock quarries (great for fossil hunting), 50 acres of woods, and a perfect picnic spot overlooking miles of rolling fields and woods towards the Wisconsin River. The "little quarry" has its own grill, table and fire pit. It is a wonderful spot for looking at the stars.
Our extensive gardens are available to guests who would like to prepare fresh, local meals. We are involved as growers for Madison's slow food, seed-to-supper project.
Guests, including students from Valley Ridge Art Studio, may also make dinner arrangements with the Innkeepers.
Boscobel is a friendly small town with a quiet main street and several cafes where they still make the food from scratch.
Other recreational opportunities include:
The Mississippi River, birding, biking, hiking, canoeing, hunting, fishing, star-gazing, reading, and did we say "just relaxing"?
