Points Of Interest
Westport Maritime Museum - Home of the Destruction Island Lighthouse Lens. Our historic museum building was built in 1939 to serve as the Coast Guard's Lifeboat Station, Grays Harbor.
Westport Light State Park - is a 212-acre day-use park on the shore of the Pacific Ocean. The historic Westport Lighthouse is adjacent to the park. A concrete boardwalk offering a panoramic view of the sea traverses the primary dune, connecting this park with Westhaven State Park, 1.3 miles away.
Furford Cranberry Museum - Explore the history of the Cranberry Coast at the Furford Cranberry Museum. Introduced to settlers by local Native Americans, the tasty cranberry is grown and harvested in the colorful bogs of the Southwest Washington coast.
Birdwatching - Grays Harbor Estuary - Grays Harbor, located on the west coast of the State of Washington, is one of two major estuaries on the Washington coast. The estuary is a nursery ground and passage way for a vast array of living resources and an important link in the migratory patterns of many fish and wildlife species. Grays Harbor is of critical importance to migrating shorebirds, including as many as 24 species.
The Willapa River Trail stretches more than 5 miles along the Willapa River and Ellis Slough. The Trail is part of a 57 mile long trail project entitled the Willapa Hills State Trail. Finding prime bird watching spots is simple; just take a walk along the rivers or bay! You're sure to be rewarded with close encounters with bald eagles, blue heron, or kingfishers and if you're really lucky you may see a marbled murrelet whizzing by.
Kayaking, Canoeing, and Boating - There are many great paddling and boating opportunities within Grays Harbor County providing spectacular views of rocky beaches, majestic trees, and wildlife at play.
