| Introduction |
| In the late 1920's, a railroad man named Theo Russell arrived at the Clamshell Railroad train station in Nahcotta. He fell in love with and married a local woman named Margaret, and built the Moby Dick Hotel for his new bride in 1929. |

During World War II, fearing potential land invasion, the Coast Guard billeted at the Moby Dick and constantly patrolled the beaches on horseback. In 1948, a night at the Moby Dick Hotel was the prize for Queen for a Day, a popular radio show. |
| Nestled on the shores of Willapa Bay, on the north end of the Long Beach Peninsula, only a mile from the Pacific Ocean, Moby Dick Hotel and Oyster Farm is one of a limited number of Pacific County tourist accommodations allowing direct access to the bay. |
| Restored in the spirit of the 1930's, the hotel is cozy, casual and comfortable and has a vintage charm which pervades the unique atmosphere. There are eight guestrooms, each normally accommodating two overnight guests. The spacious public rooms include two living rooms, |

one with a fireplace and a small lounge area on the second floor. The many bookshelves offer a fine collection of literature. For those who care to tickle the ivories, we do have a piano, as well as a TV/VCR and a continually expanding collection of videos. |
| Our complimentary breakfast, features our own oysters, freshly baked breads, and a choice of American style eggs, bacon, hash browns, or a Special of the Day. If we have advance notice we will be happy to accommodate dietary restrictions. |
A number of paths in the woods adjoining the hotel wind out onto the rambling bay-front grounds. There are many spots to sit and contemplate, in the woods, among the flowers and on the borders of our organic vegetable and herb garden. A Japanese-style sauna pavillion overlooks the bay. Saunas are available by reservation to guests. Under construction is a large yurt with radiant heated floors designed for yoga and meditation retreats, business retreats, and other functions.
| Our restaurant, under the leadership of Chef Jeff McMahon, continues the tradition of expanding dining opportunities and cuisine delights for the residents and visitors to the Long Beach Peninsula. and a designation of Restaurant of the Year 2003 as well. Jeff uses ingredients both imported and indigenous, and is obsessed with creating bright, clean flavors. The Hotel is open year round, serving dinners Thursdays through Mondays, starting at 6:00.pm. Advance reservations are recommended. Ask us about our banquet and on site catering services. We have recently completed our yurt which provides meeting space for 30 people. |
