Introduction

Bay Views ~ Fireplaces ~ Private Jacuzzis
"Hearty Breakfasts & Serious Coffee"

High above the city streets, this 1889 Grand Victorian estate is the earliest example of landscape gardening in the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by 100+ yr. old trees, cascading greenery and captivating views of the Sound, you may forget that your hilltop hideaway is actually an urban inn. Downtown shops and theatres, Antique Row and the waterfront are all within a few blocks of this remarkable garden retreat.

Guest Room

Located in the heart of North Tacoma’s historic district, Chinaberry Hill is within 5 minutes of I-5, the Tacoma Dome, local universities and Sheraton Convention Center (Tacoma’s Landmark Convention Center is just 4 blocks from the inn). SeaTac (Seattle-Tacoma International Airport) is 20 minutes from the inn, Seattle is just 30 minutes away.

A popular choice for those seeking relaxation and romance, Chinaberry Hill offers spacious suites, bay views, fireplaces, ensuite double Jacuzzis, extra-plush beds w/down comforters and custom bedding, CTV/VCRs -- and lots of privacy. Filled with original woodwork and stained glass, period lighting and local memorabilia, the inn has been featured in Tacoma’s Grand Home Tours and several publications, including Amazing Getaways of the Pacific Northwest, Northwest Best Places, Recommended Country Inns - West Coast, Best Places to Kiss NW, Seattle Magazine, Sunset Magazine, Conde Nast Travelers, Travel & Leisure, and Romantic Days and Nights in Seattle.

Bird Feeder Front Porch Puget Sound

The inn serves a full, multi-course gourmet breakfast (available from 7-9:30am), with fresh-ground Starbucks roasted coffee and plenty of chilled fresh orange juice. The guest kitchen is kept well-stocked with complimentary drinks (bottled water, juices, sodas), popcorn, teas, hot chocolate - and, of course, the never-empty cookie jar (perfect for those late-nite raids...).
