Located on the western slopes of the Green Mountains and in the Champlain Valley, Addison County is a recognized destination in Vermont for both summer and winter activities. The county seat of Middlebury and adjacent towns, such as Cornwall, retain much of the charm and flavor of 19th century Vermont. At the same time, 200 year-old Middlebury College is thoroughly up-to-date and is one of the country's leading liberal arts schools. The Willow & Lotus Bed & Breakfast is conveniently located, some 5 miles southwest of the College, yet, because it is nestled in open countryside, affords marvelous views of both the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks.

Outdoor activities include hiking, both locally and in the Green Mountain National Forest, bicycling on local roads, swimming and boating at Lake Dunmore (12 miles) or Lake Champlain(15 miles), fishing at a number of sites within the county, including Otter Creek, New Haven River, Middlebury River and various other lakes and streams that have public access.

Golf courses and riding stables may be found nearby and our own 2 1/2 acre property has ample space for lawn games or simply relaxing in the shade with a good book. For winter sports, the Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Cross-Country Ski Center are 15-18 miles from our Bed & Breakfast and other, larger ski resorts lie within a 40 mile radius.

Several local museums are found withing 5-15 miles of The Willow & Lotus Bed & Breakfast, and nationally recognized Shelburne Museum is located about 35 miles to the north. In Middlebury itself, the Frog Hollow area includes a state craft center, as well as other stores with an array of local crafts. History buffs may be further delighted by four covered bridges , and a wonderful "Charles Addams" mansion sitting in a field only a few miles away.
