Our Stone Boat Farm B&B, located in the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont, is the perfect place for budget-minded travelers and outdoor enthusiasts. Our guests will find a European-style bed and breakfast (German "Pension") with contemporary décor and affordable yet comfortable accommodations. With only four guest rooms, all with private entrances and bathrooms, our B&B is small and our style is relaxed, informal and easy-going. We encourage "self-catering" and ask our guests to help themselves to a healthy breakfast in the common room, enjoy the three outdoor sitting areas (by the gurgling brook, trout pond, and mini-waterfall), or make use of the barbecue grill in the back yard. Oftentimes we sit around the campfire with our guests and enjoy great conversations!
We are situated on 40 acres of woodland with a scenic vista of Shatterack Mountain, near the National Forest, Appalachian (Long) Trail, the West and Battenkill Rivers as well as numerous lakes and ponds. This location provides our guests with a myriad of summer and winter activities. Hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and bird watching are just a few summer activities to be enjoyed. Nearby ski areas, such as the Stratton Mountain Resort, Mount Snow, and Bromley Mountain, offer New England's finest downhill skiing experience. The cross-country skier will find an ample selection of trails along meandering rivers and lakes giving breath-taking views of mountain panorama as well as nearby well-groomed trails at both the Grafton Ponds and Viking Nordic Ski centers. Just a minute from our B&B is a superb outdoor sport store that can provide guests with affordable rental equipment.
Taking a break from outdoor activities, the nearby towns and villages, such as Jamaica, Stratton, Brattleboro and Manchester, offer numerous arts and craft shops, antique stores and designer outlets, and plenty of excellent restaurants as well as local diners with hearty, affordable meals. Selected by USA Weekend as one of the most beautiful places in America, nearby historic Grafton is considered a true "quintessential" Vermont village. It features old restored buildings, museums, a covered bridge, and a cheese factory.
