Introduction

Our Hinesburg, Vermont bed & breakfast is a quiet country spot close to Burlington. Area attractions include the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Farms, Vermont Teddy Bear Company, Lake Champlain recreation path, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, the Church Street Marketplace, fabulous restaurants, University of Vermont (UVM) and other colleges. A leisurely walk down our quiet country road brings you to wildflowers, streams, a waterfall, and mountain views. By the Old Mill Stream - Hinesburg, Vermont

Breathtaking Waterfall Over 130 years have passed since the first stone was laid to build a home for Isaiah Dow and his family. Time has been kind to the wide plank floors, pressed tin ceilings, and marble fireplace. Outside, a smokehouse, several barns, and century-old apple trees still stand. A breathtaking waterfall, which powered a woolen mill owned by Isaiah Dow, still cascades through the stone foundation in our back yard. Guests of all ages will enjoy the history of the mill community through a walking tour or movie and books full of old-fashioned Vermont humor. ("Women took their foot stoves to church. The men kept themselves warm with their inner fires.")

Lush flower and vegetable gardens abound. Many of the herbs, fruits and vegetables in the gardens are gathered and used in special recipes, which may include pumpkin-gingerbread waffles, Belgian waffles with freshly-picked strawberries, or lemon-blueberry pancakes. Whenever weather permits, breakfast will be served out on the back deck, offering our guests a bird's-eye view of the waterfall.

For the adventuresome, we're happy to recommend from our personal experience great hiking, swimming, biking, golfing, windsurfing, flyfishing and lake fishing, snowshoeing, both downhill and cross-country skiing, antiquing and canoeing. Steve is happy to share his fishing experiences, secrets, and guide recommendations. Steven speaks German. Scenic foliage drives, two covered bridges, and favorite local swimming spots are within 5 miles. Whatever you choose, we hope you'll enjoy the casual comfort of our bed and breakfast, and feel as though you're part of our extended family.
