Introduction
This 1909 summer cottage has been completely renovated returning the property to its original glory.
Located midway between Middlebury and Rutland
Located 1/4 mile east of
Route 7 and the center of Brandon
once you turn onto Park Street (Route 73).
The Lilac Inn is a 10,000 square foot Greek Revival mansion, the gardens boast ten to fifteen varieties of lilacs -- mauve, lavender, magenta, white -- looking as if each bush meant to set its neighbor a flame.
Room 1 (Grand Suite)
The original master suite is one of our most popular rooms and has been highlighted in Yankee and Country Inns Magazines. Features a silver four poster queen size bed, classic black and white toile accents, whirlpool tub, fireplace, and intimate breakfast area.
Room 2 (Victorian Room)
A very romantic choice with its beautiful gunmetal black wrought iron queen size bed and shades of gold's and yellows. The inviting private bathroom has an original 1909 porcelain tub with hand held shower.
Room 3 (Spring Room)
Decorated in shades of greens and yellows with an antique finished wrought iron cupid bed, overlooking the mansions of Historic Park Street. The private bathroom features the porcelain tub and pedestal sink from 1909. This room connects to Room Four.
Room 4 (Fretzel's Room)
A Laura Ashley inspired room with two oak canopy single beds and private bath with claw foot tub. This room often shared by siblings and friends can be connected to Room Three for a family or friends traveling together.
Room 5 (Charleston Room)
White oak furniture, four poster canopy bed accented by classic red and mustard rooster toile bedding. Bombay Verde green sink, private bath with claw foot tub and real wood burning fireplace makes this a popular romantic choice.
Room 6 (Lilac Room)
Decorated around an oak pencil point four poster bed & oak armoire, custom designed & built for The Lilac Room. The room overlooks specimen maples and pines plus a private bathroom with an antique claw foot tub.
Room 7 (Albert's Room)
The second master bedroom of the cottage is one of our most popular suites. With a pineapple pine four poster queen size bed, sleigh bed, fireplace with wing back chairs, pine writing desk, pine armoire, claw foot tub and pedestal sink.
Room 8 (Kimble's Room)
This patriotic room is inspired by Brandon's famous local folk artist Warren Kimble. Designed in an American Folk Theme with a red white and blue inspiration including tufted walls and tiled bath and shower combination.
Room 9 (Gardener's Room)
This room with it's garden theme is a quiet corner retreat overlooking the birch trees and gardener's cottage. The tiled bath and shower combination, corner armoire, and entrance area makes this room a regular getaway for our returning guests.

Dining
Our restaurant features contemporary New England cuisine in two intimate oil lamp lit dining rooms. Using fresh local farm raised products the kitchen staff have been the
recipients of continuous accolades and awards. Our restaurant is open to the public for Dinner Wednesday through Saturday 5:30pm to 9:00pm and Sunday brunch is served from 10:00am to 2:00pm from May through October. Winter Season hours are subject to change. Reservations are suggested.
