Travel information about Vermont

One of the first important American victories of the Revolutionary War was in 1775 when Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys captured Fort Ticonderoga and Crown Point. With only 8,247 residents, Montpelier has the smallest population of any state capital. Woodstock in central Vermont became the site of the nation's first ski tow in 1933. In ratio of cows to people, Vermont has the greatest number of dairy cows in the country and the largest employer is IBM. The first Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream store opened in Burlington in 1978 and still continues to be an ice cream favorite. A stay at a Southern Vermont bed and breakfast or Arlington inn will add a distinctive touch to your vacation.
