The North Hero House is open year round and offers a multitude of activities and attractions for vacationing guests. Lake Champlain provides an endless source of enjoyable things to do. In the summer time swimming and relaxing at the inn's sandy beach is unforgettable. The water is warm and clear. Reclining chairs abound and the floating swim platform is an attractive destination for good swimmers of all ages A visit to the inn's lakeside Jacuzzi is romantic and relaxing any time of the year. In the winter we have an ice skating rink on the lake and ice fishing is a favorite pastime for visitors and locals alike; our beautiful sitting rooms, majestic lake and mountain views, and romantic dining atmosphere make the inn a great place to relax, unwind, and reconnect.
Bird watching and nature walks in the spring, summer and fall are outstanding.
The lake offers great boating. 2 person Sea Kayaks and a canoe are available for rent by our guests at the inn. Single Kayaks, powerboats, and Sailboats are available for to rent at nearby marinas. Slips are available for guest-owned watercraft at the inn's sheltered marina.
The angler will be challenged in all seasons. Legendary fishing for bass, northern pike and walleye is waiting. The islands are famous for fall duck hunting and deer hunting and spring turkey hunting.
Boat charters and cruises are available through Driftwood Tours (802-373-0022) and golf and tennis are nearby as well. The inn is a member of a local tennis club where har-tru courts are available to NHH guests. An 18 hole golf course is 10 minutes away.
Biking the islands is marvelous: the island roads offer great water views, lots of flat terrain and beautiful countryside.
Area attractions include Burlington, The University of Vermont, St. Michael's College Playhouse, Smugglers Notch, The Shelburne Museum and St. Anne's Shrine.
