Imagine a day in Vermont... perhaps exploring a country road, stopping to enjoy a picnic from Cathy's hamper; discovering an antique that's just right; reading by the fire, writing to a friend, or visiting with Jim as he keeps the inn in late afternoon. Evening and Dinnertime... gathering with guests in the parlor or the den to exchange stories. The dining room glows with candlelight. Soon dinner is presented at your table, fulfilling the promise of earlier aromas. Imagine... snuggling under a comforter in an extraordinary hand carved antique bed. Morning and sunshine in the breakfast room -- delicious aromas wafting from the inn kitchen -- hot apple crisp -- perhaps one of Cathy's special "stuffed" French Toast recipes with Vermont maple syrup. |
| The Governor's Inn is a stylish, romantic Victorian country house with eight guest rooms, each with its own antiques. All guest rooms have private baths. | Common Rooms include a spacious foyer with fireplace and a whispering alcove, a living room with an ornate slate fireplace, dining and breakfast rooms, and a den with full beverage service. Of course, there's a porch for stomping off snow in winter and for rocking in summer. | Ludlow is surrounded by five lakes, the Black River, Okemo Mountain, and all of Vermont. This area offers activities for all seasons. |
All room rates include afternoon tea and a full breakfast served at your own private table beautifully set with silver, crystal and heirloom antique china. Dinner (available with advanced reservations) at our inn is not just a meal -- it is an event! Guests are seated at 7:00 p.m. in our intimate, elegant, lantern lit dining room.

Cathy is an honors graduate of The Connecticut Culinary Institute, and holds a certificate from the César Ritz Course of the Ritz Escoffier Ecole de Gastronomie Française in Paris. A former nurse executive, Cathy has combined her love of caring for people with her love of cooking. She brings to innkeeping boundless energy and enthusiasm, a warm and friendly personality, as well as excellent culinary skills. Jim's engineering background, his attention to detail, and his enjoyment of people have prepared him well to ensure that visitors are delighted with their "inn experience." His wry sense of humor and his love of sharing tales of life's adventures have made for many a pleasant visit with guests. Thoughtfulness and warm hospitality are hallmarks of The Governor's Inn. They are Jim and Cathy's ways of saying "Thanks for staying with us. Please come again." |
