Introduction
Cornwall Orchards Bed and Breakfast is a comfortable old Vermont farmhouse,
two miles from Middlebury College.
The Middlebury region is steeped in Vermont beauty, including extensive farm
and orchard country and the Green Mountains. There is superb hiking nearby,
from easy to moderately difficult. The area is steeped in history from three
American wars, including Fort Ticonderoga, Mount Independence and the Hubbarton
Battlefield. Fort Ticonderoga alone is worth a family trip, it is beautifully
restored and is reached by a little auto ferry across Lake Champlain after a
short drive through delightful farm and orchard country. There is golf three
minutes from Cornwall Orchards at the Middlebury College Golf Course, which is open to the public.
The great Shelburne Museum with restored early American houses, railroad
cars, steamboat, Americana and a fine art collection, among other things,
is close by. We offer a substantial discount to the admission fee. Next door is Shelburne
Farms with its magnificant barns, farm animals and cheese making. There is
excellent back road cycling from the house, nearby fishing, antiquing and plenty of culture. There are many
excellent restaurants in nearby Middlebury and environs. Cross country skiing
is close by at Middlebury College's Bread Loaf Ski Touring Center and at Blueberry Hill.
Downhill skiing is at the Middlebury College Snowbowl (it's good) and at
Sugarbush and Mad River Glen.
Cornwall Orchards Bed and Breakfast offers five guest bedrooms, all with private baths, three with tub
showers and two with tiled stall showers. There is a living room for guests,
with a fireplace that is in constant use during the cold months. The dining
room is bright and spacious with views to the west and the Adirondacks. There
is one handicapped accessible guest bedroom and full bath. There is an
outside porch-deck for sitting.
A full breakfast is served with orange juice, homemade granola, and fruit in
season. Also, blueberry pancakes, with local maple syrup and our own free
range eggs. We serve Green Mountain coffee.
