Introduction
Wolftrap Farm offers Bed & Breakfast and Vacation Rental accommodations on a 584 acre horse and cattle farm, with mountain views, miles of forest trails, rolling pastures, abundant creeks and brooks, nine ponds, and easy access to all the attractions of Charlottesville and the Central Virginia area.
James Madison described his Virginia home, Montpelier, as "Just a squirrel's jump from heaven." Wolftrap Farm is even closer. Five miles Southeast of Madison's Montpelier home, this spacious farm sits atop the last foothills of the Piedmont, offering commanding views of the Southwest Mountains.
At Wolftrap, you are far away from urban pressures, but still only a "squirrel's jump" from civilized local attractions. Charlottesville and Culpeper are each one-half hour away. Nearby historical attractions include Montpelier, Monticello, Michie's Tavern, Ashlawn, the Exchange Hotel Civil War Museum, the Barboursville Ruins, the Madison Museum, Wilderness Battlefield, and the historic downtowns of Charlottesville and Culpeper.
If your interests include vineyards, fine dining, antiques, history, art, theatre, music, nature, horseback riding, scenic byways, quaint villages, pastoral views, golf, skydiving or river rafting, those passions can each be indulged near Wolftrap.
Wolftrap's barns and equestrian facilities are now home base for Bonnie Mosser, an international competitor in the equine sport known as Three-Day Eventing. Eventers compete with a single mount in dressage, show jumping, and a race against the clock over a grueling cross-country course. Guests at the farm often get to see the horses being schooled or exercised in the training ring or on the way out for conditioning work on our woodland trails.
Guests may book Wolftrap on a traditional B&B plan, or as a Vacation Rental at special rates which include kitchen privileges. Spaces can be combined to accommodate families and reunions. Enjoy Wolftrap as a secluded B&B getaway for a weekend, or plan a special vacation for several families to enjoy together. Give us a call, we would love to help you with your plans.
A farm-style breakfast is offered in the eating areas (dining room, kitchen, upper porch and/or patio) of the Manor House to "Bed & Breakfast" guests paying full rate. Short term guests at the Pond House are provided a deluxe continental breakfast set-up or, at their option, ingredients to prepare their own hot breakfast in the Pond House's kitchen. "Vacation Rental" guests (who are taking most or all of the Manor House or are at the Pond House for an extended stay at a discounted rate, have the use of the kitchens and prepare their own breakfasts, unless special arrangements are made. These are the customary arrangements, but we are flexible.
